Figer: EVSU still a strong squad

ScuaaAfter suffering a three-medal setback from Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT), Prof. Perla T. Figer, Director, EVSU Cultural Affairs and Sports Development (CASD) department, still considers the EVSU athletes a competent delegation after they bagged a total of 44 medals which placed EVSU at the 2nd rank during the 25th Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) held at the Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay, Leyte on October 24-30, 2009.

Based on the medal tally, EVSU dominated Taekwondo Men and Women with a total of 13 medals (six gold, three silver and four bronze). VSU and Tiburcio Tancingco Memorial Institute of Science and Technology (TTMIST) both seated in 2nd place with nine medals while Leyte Normal University (LNU) followed at 3rd with eight medals. The University also topped the ball games after it surpassed other State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) with nine medals. Badminton Men and Table Tennis Women also added two gold to the university’s medal tally. Further, Volleyball Men and Women both seized the 2nd notch following UEP which played invincible on the said competition.

On the other hand, Sepak-Takraw Men and Badminton Women boarded 2nd while Table Tennis Women emerged as a bronze medalist.
