TESDA confirms 27 EVSU scholars
In support to the Economic Resiliency Program, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region 8 together with the Tek- Book Providers (TBPs) awarded the Pangulong Gloria Scholarship to 10 BSIEd and 17 BSHRT students during the Training Induction Program conducted last September 4 at the ISLS Audio- Visual Room.
The Pangulong Gloria scholars from the BSIEd Department are: Jonah May Bulilis, Marlyn A. Manadong, Rechielyn G. Gaditano, Marjorie B. Garrido, Kenneth P. Ladrera, Shirley M. Sioson, Zyra Mae G. Geralyn, Ronald Michael Suyom, Arnold T. Albaw, and Kenneth Jay T. Lozada. Likewise, the BSHRT who also availed the scolarship are Maria Abegail T. Monterde, Rocel V. Ontemare, Rosevie Q. Abugadie, Geraldine S. Pedrosa, Joanne P. Nalda, Mariz Marjonet B. Babiano, Sheila C.Cadorna, Jennilyn C. Decin, Mary Mecca G. Novio, Joseph James L. Hernaez, Jedson A. Daylo, Bryan Anthony Almaden, Janzen Ruick Luna, Neslyn G. Capul, Melvic P. Bustillo, and Keeshia Bonna Mae P. Collamat. These 27 scholars were chosen by the university based on their academic and National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE) performances. However, according to Mrs. Danilie C. Pelias, TESDA Specialist II, not all universities are given the privilege to be recipients of this scholarship. “Before we chose the universities or colleges where we will acquire our scholars, there are qualifi cations and standards that they have to meet first. Particular with this is this university,” she added.
In the case of EVSU, the university was able to register a ladderized curriculum in TESDA. These are the food and beverages training under the BSHRT degree and commercial cooking training for BSIEd. At the same time, the university also met the 60 % quota of students who passed the certification rate given after each assessment of the training. Moreover, the university also recorded good attendance in each meeting and provided sufficient facilities which are supplemental in the Group Training Scheme (GTS) or the training that will be given to the scholars.
Regarding the GTS, TESDA will provide full training cost or tuition of P3,500 for the food and beverage scholars (BSHRT) and P8,000 for the commercial cooking scholars (BSIEd). In addition, each scholar will be given P60 training support fund each day up to the completion of the required number of their training hours which is 360 hours for the food and beverage, and 460 hours for commercial cooking. A free assessment will be given also after completion of the training program. Here, the TESDA will give them national certification.
“This program aims to produce a pool of qualified and globally competent workforce who is job ready. At the same time we shall ensure that at least 60% of the university’s graduates in this training- scholarship program are employed immediately after graduation or within twelve (12) months after completion of training,” Mrs. Vicenta Ochea, UTRPPRAS Staff emphasized.
According to her, the national certification that they will be giving to the scholars will serve as their gatepass to be able to work abroad. TESDA SCHOLARS.
