COBE, COE take Mr, Ms EVSU 2010 title
After the reign of the College of Engineering (COE) in 2008 Ms. EVSU, Melody Igot, with her alluring charisma and wit, took the plum again as Ms. EVSU 2010 last night during the Search for Mr. and Ms. EVSU 2010 at the Auditorium.
Ten pairs from different colleges and campuses vied for the two titles. They were judged from their Talent presentation last August 3 to the question and answer portion during the coronation night.
Each one of them staged their ingenious costumes representing the beauty of Eastern Visayas, flaunted their scorching hot bodies in the swimwear competition, and displayed their elegant evening gowns and barong tagalongs where they ramped throughout the stage and took extra poses as they entertain the crowd.
Some of the candidates got tongue-tied and speechless in the interview portion of the search. From 20, they were
numbered down to the outstanding six composed of three females and three males.
With the single, common question which goes, “Eastern Visayas is blessed with so much natural beauty and places of historical significance. Which of these places should be the area of priority for tourism development?” Igot answered “McArthur Park” and cleverly explained why. Igot received only one special award which was the Best in Long gown.
The College of Business and Entrepreneurship (COBE) bet, Harriet Ayala, settled as Ms. EVSU 2010 1st runner-up and bagged several special awards like Ms. Smart, Ms. Asia Trading, Best Festival award and Ms. Swimwear while the College of Technology (COT) candidate, Rowena Fedeliza, was proclaimed as Ms. EVSU 2010 2nd runner-up.
Glenn Villacorte of COBE placed as the first Mr. EVSU 2010 with one special award, Mr. JCI, that same night over Harvey Phillip Isaga of COT 1st runner-up who reaped numerous awards including Mr.Photogenic, Mr. Oishi and Mr. Swimwear, and Romeo Castil Jr. of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), 2nd runner-up.
Special awards were also given to EVSU-Tanauan Campus’ Christine April C. Creer as Ms. Photogenic; Mr. Smart was awarded to College of Education’s (COEds) Joel Rogero Badion; Mr. and Ms. Royal Beauty were given to Badion (COEd) and Zyrille Joy B. Tupaz from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). Tupaz (CAS) was also granted Ms. OIshi award and Geraldine C. Lim of the College of Architecture and Allied Discipline (CAAD) was chosen as Ms. JCI. Furthermore, Badion (COEd) and Tupaz (CAS) were proclaimed Mr. and Ms. Talent respectively. Aster Acain of EVSU-Ormoc Campus (EVSU-OCC) was given the award for the Best in Barong Tagalog.
“Great! It was a fast pace search and I really like it plus I admire the EVSU chorale and Samleyaw Dance Company. Actually, the successors deserves the title because they shine on the major category,” said Toto Cinco, representative of Leyte Provincial Tourism Culture and Arts Council.
