Abstract
Indigenous Filipino sports such as Laro ng Lahi are recreational activities taught in tertiary-level Physical Education classrooms. Children no longer play these activities in the streets or on playgrounds. The purpose of this study was to ascertain audience perceptions of the adaptation of the Filipino Indigenous Games into cultural dance theater. The researchers constructed and presented to the respondents a dance incorporating ten selected Laro ng Lahi. The quantitative technique was applied in this investigation. The primary instrument of this study was a survey questionnaire, which was utilized to ascertain audience perceptions of the Laro ng Lahi as translated through dance. Frequencies, percentages, and means were used to summarize the data. It was discovered that there was a strong perception of the Laro ng Lahi as a dance, and this can be used as a new technique to teaching leisure activities in Physical Education. According to respondents, interpreting the Laro ng Lahi as a dance reintroduces us to our cultural background and serves as a reminder of our social activities. Finally, this research will add to the body of information for future scholars studying comparable subjects.
