Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine first-year high school students enrolled in Integrated Science in Tacloban City, Leyte, Philippines' awareness of global warming. A 30-item questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of KR20=0.8132 was administered to 360 randomly selected students from five public secondary schools. 3.89 percent of respondents received high scores (18-23), 54.44 percent received intermediate scores (12-17), 32.78 percent received low scores (7-11), and 8.89 percent received extremely low scores (1-6), with a mean of 11.95. Additionally, respondents' age, gender, and economic level all had a favorable correlation with their perceptions of global warming. As a result, the older the response and the higher the family income, the more knowledgeable they are about global warming. On average, female participants scored higher than male participants.
