Abstract

Background: The Coping Mechanisms of High School Students. The research design employed a descriptive-correlational approach. This study will examine the relationship between a number of previously unexplored variables. The correlational approach proved acceptable for evaluating the students' coping methods in relation to the stressful circumstance they are currently confronted with. The study enrolled 340 fourth-year high school students. The findings of this study indicated that students' coping techniques varied significantly across the eight domains of coping mechanism. Among the eight dimensions, wishful thinking and detachment were the most frequently used by High Students when confronted with problems, whereas tension reduction had the lowest aggregated value, indicating that the problems they face are an inescapable part of their lives and how they deal with them is entirely up to them. It is worth noting that because the respondents are from a lower socioeconomic class, they lack the ability to engage in vacation/leisure as a distress activity. This study is valuable to the following persons and groups of people: the district supervisor, the school principal, guidance counselors, parents, and future researchers.
