The discussion on the different topics of Human Resource Management Development capped off the three-day Executive Development Class 2023 of Eastern Visayas State University, April 11-13, at Sabin Hotel Resort, Ormoc City.
The Executive Development Class 2023 is a capacity development activity spearheaded by the Office of the Vice-President for Administration and Finance, through VP Benedicto T. Militante, Jr., in collaboration with the Institutional Planning and Development Office, through Director Christopher C. Bacungan; the Administrative Services Division, through Director Doris Ann S. Espina; and the Finance Services Division, through Director Marlene U. Lim.
Dr. Doris Ann S. Espina, the Chief Administrative Officer for Admin Services, tackled the Administrative Rules and Policies on Student Disciplinary Tribunal, Grievance Machinery, Salient Features of 2017 Rules on Administrative Cases in Civil Service; and Salient Features of RA 7877: Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 and RA 11313: The Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law).
Different suggestions were raised to improve the policies on student discipline and grievance machinery.
Furthermore, Ms. Honey Lee F. Cadavis, HRMO III, elucidated the recruitment, selection, and placement; learning and development; strategic performance management system; and rewards and recognition.
Clarifications and suggestions on how to assess the learning and development needs of the faculty and staff of the university were deliberated.
Meanwhile, Mr. Arnold M. Brit, HRMO II, expounded on leave administration, leave credits, service credits entitlement, retirement, and terminal leave benefit.
In her closing message, Dr. Analyn C. Españo, Vice-President for Research and Development and Extension Services, emphasized how the capacity development activity will help the administrators become well-versed in the basic processes and procedures of managing a department to expedite the delivery of quality services.
“EVSU leaders come and go, but the hallowed grounds will remain as the leaders deliver the mandates of the university, making them change makers, trailblazers, among others.”, she further added.
