Envisioning to intensify global prominence, the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Palembang University of South Sumatra, Indonesia, as well as the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Department of Languages and Literature of EVSU and the English Education Study Program of Palembang University, last, April 18, via Zoom Teleconferencing.
Prospective of the positive and germane linkage, Prof. Faustito Aure, Director for Internationalization of Higher Education in EVSU, detailed in his welcome remarks that this academic tie is anchored on the pursuit for academic advancements, contributing to internationalization landscape of higher education in EVSU. “Together we have the opportunity to create something truly extraordinary—a partnership built on trust, respect, and shared commitment to excellence,” said Prof. Aure.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ali Dahwir, SH., MH, Rector of Palembang University, shared his visions that can emanate from this partnership, exemplifying cultural appreciation and sharing of best professional practices of both countries. “I believe that through these MoA and MoU, we’ll initiate the internationalizations in the higher education at Palembang University, as one of the efforts to bring positive opportunity from the outside into our close environment,” the rector conveyed.
It is the most cherished aspiration of the university to flaunt prestige in international limelight for possible academic collaboration, research grants, and scholarship alliances. These and more are some of the goals that the president aims to realize. “In EVSU, we are extending our academic glimpse to our neighboring partner to the ASEAN community and embracing this synergy of academic cooperation and partnerships, Dr. de Paz highlighted.
Virtual signing of MoU between EVSU and Palembang University, and the MoA between Department of Languages and Literature and English Education Study Program was led by the Rector and the President, simultaneously. Highlights of areas of the newly established partnerships include faculty and student exchange program, internship programs, exchanges and sharing of instructional materials, research collaboration, among others.
As an advocate of internationalization endeavor in the university, Dr. Danilo Pulma, Vice President for Internationalization and External Affairs, underscored that this joint venture will serve as conduit to intensify global engagement, unlocking limitless possibilities in the undertaking of excellence. “This partnership has the potential to enrich the educational experiences of our students, broaden the horizon of the faculty, and contribute to the new knowledge and solutions for the benefit of our communities”, Dr. Pulma concluded.
In attendance were the key officials of the university—Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, Dr. Danilo Pulma, Dr. Lydia Morante, Dr. Analyn Espaňo, Dr. Benedicto Militante Jr., Dr. Glenda Tupaz, together with the Head of DLL, Assoc. Prof. Harriette Mae Mercullo and Mr. Joseph Nacionales, the DLL external affairs coordinator. Concurrently, in Indonesia, the event was attended by equally distinguished officials of Palembang University, led by the Rector, Dr. Ali Dahwir.
