News CHED leads PH delegation at CBIE conference in Canada; EVSU among HEIs

Ottawa, Canada – EVSU, represented by university president, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz participated in the Commission on Higher Education’s venture to the Canadian Bureau for International Education’s (CBIE) annual conference on November 3-6, 2024.

This year’s CBIE conference themed “Beyond the Horizon” featured advocacies for sustainable international cooperation and calls to support the developing role of higher education in addressing global challenges. Further, discussions and agreements mainly revolved around the idea of innovation and capacity-building.

During the gathering, EVSU inked a Memorandum of Understanding with various Philippine HEIs to create the Philippines-Canada Network for Sustainability (PCNS). Among the members of said network are the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), Catanduanes State University (CSU), Mountain Province State University (MPSU), St. Paul University Manila (SPU Manila), University of Northern Philippines (UNP), Cavite State University (CavSU), Isabela State University (ISU), Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

The MOU formalizes cooperation between EVSU and said HEIs which opens opportunities to leverage shared expertise and resources to achieve goals such as economic and environmental sustainability. Further, it provides a framework for the institutions to work on projects to work on projects that contribute to development goals.

Further, the MOU opens possible partnerships with the following universities and colleges in Canada: University of Manitoba, Algonquin College, Memorial University of Newfoundland, University of Ottawa, Wilfrid Laurier University, Northern College, University of Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick Community College, Dalhousie University.

Such international endeavors are part of EVSU’s continued pursuit of excellence. The university’s efforts in forging meaningful partnerships with agencies and institutions is expected to enrich its programs, strengthen institutional capacity, and contribute to its sustainable development efforts on both local and global scales.
