News ORDExS intensifies research prod efforts through training-workshop on SCOPUS publication

In a move to strengthen the university’s research culture, the Office of Research, Development, and Extension Services (ORDExS) organized a seminar-workshop to help faculty and researchers elevate their academic pursuits. The 2-day program entitled “SCOPUS Journey” was held at the ORDExS Studio Room, this February 4-5.

With the theme “Expanding Scopus Research: Diversifying Publications, Preparing Manuscripts for Successful Publications,” the event brought together selected faculty members and researchers from the EVSU community. More than just a workshop, it was a step toward revitalizing and expanding the university’s research output, equipping participants with the tools and knowledge to make a greater impact through their scholarly work.

In a recent interview about the event, Dr. Analyn C. Españo, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension Services, shared why initiatives like this matter. Beyond being a university mandate, she emphasized that research has the power to create real change in people’s lives. “Research is the hallmark of any university,” she said, highlighting her dedication to strengthening EVSU’s research culture and inspiring more faculty members to contribute to meaningful scholarly work.

The discussion also brought up EVSU’s recent achievements, including the publication of 110 SCOPUS-indexed studies over the past five years and the inclusion of 21 faculty-researchers in the AD Scientific Index’s ranking of the top 9,000 scientists in the Philippines. The ORDExS remains optimistic that, with EVSU’s growing faculty population, these numbers represent only a fraction of the university’s true potential in research production.

The seminar and other similar programs serve as a call for faculty members to fully embrace the research culture, strive for excellence in their fields, and strengthen their capabilities in scholarly publication.
