TACLOBAN CITY – A total of 131 students from Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) and Asian Development Foundation College (ADFC) were awarded the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) on March 18, 2025, at the EVSU Inner Court. The award was presented under the leadership of Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairman Dr. J. Prospero “Popoy” De Vera III.
Joining Dr. De Vera at the ceremony were CHED Regional Director Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe and Atty. Ryan L. Esteves of UniFAST.
Each student received P10,000, with the total grant for the 2nd Semester of S.Y. 2023-2024 amounting to P1,910,000.
In his remarks, Dr. De Vera reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that higher education is accessible to all, particularly for students from low-income families.
The TES program, a key initiative of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (RA 10931), aims to provide financial assistance to deserving students who face financial challenges. The subsidy covers tuition, miscellaneous fees, and other school-related expenses, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent students from completing their education.
The Tertiary Education Subsidy is implemented by the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST), with CHED overseeing its execution. This initiative continues to benefit thousands of students nationwide, reinforcing the government’s mission to provide equitable access to quality higher education.
