The College of Engineering (COE) at the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) Main Campus has officially attained a 100% Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) status for all its offered programs.
The COPC is a CHED-issued certification confirming that an academic program meets the commission’s minimum standards, and, as required under Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) regulations, a board program must have this for its graduates to qualify for the corresponding licensure examinations.
In late January 2025, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) approved EVSU’s and several other SUCs’ one-time request to temporarily waive the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) requirement for their engineering programs.
This exemption allowed 1,189 graduates in Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering across EVSU’s campuses to proceed with their licensure examination applications. However, it also came with a non-extendible deadline of September 9, 2025, for full COPC compliance.
Considering the fast-approaching deadline, EVSU’s College of Engineering (COE) tripled its ongoing efforts to secure COPC for all its programs. Their faculty and staff worked tirelessly to streamline documents, address CHED‘s recommendations, and to prepare facilities to meet the commission’s standards. The university worked closely with CHED Regional Office VIII and with the evaluation teams sent by the CHED Central Office.
These efforts bore fruit through a series of achievements: COPC for the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) which was granted last May 27, 2025; the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)’s COPC followed on July 17, 2025; and recently, the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) and Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering (BSGE) were granted COPC this August 13, 2025.
Following these approvals, EVSU’s COE has achieved full COPC compliance a month ahead of the September deadline, making EVSU the first university in Eastern Visayas to attain 100% COPC for all its board programs, undeniable proof of the university’s dedication, teamwork, and resilience.
