EVSU’s University Multimedia Development Center (UMDC) served as resource speakers in the PhilHealth Communication and Presentation Skills Training held on September 16–17, 2025, for selected PhilHealth employees.
The two-day training aimed to enhance the capability of PhilHealth personnel in delivering clear and effective communication to clients and stakeholders, including the media. The sessions focused on video production, technical presentation skills, and media presence—critical tools for effective public information dissemination.
Prof. Kay Bathala Santos, UMDC’s Team Lead for Social Media Curation discussed the fundamentals and technical aspects of video production, covering camera basics, scriptwriting, and filming plans. Meanwhile, Prof. Joseph Vincent Maneja, the UMDC Team Lead for Multimedia shared his expertise in videography, including lighting techniques and video editing essentials, and offered practical tips for creating impactful and professional PowerPoint presentations.
Jenette Fariola-Ruedas, UMDC Director, emphasized the importance of media presence and message clarity. She offered strategies to help information officers communicate more effectively, particularly when serving as resource persons in forums and client briefings about PhilHealth programs.
Participants were given hands-on exercises in basic videography and presentation design, followed by a mock press conference that allowed them to apply their learning in a simulated media setting.
The activity highlighted the crucial role of clear and accurate information in promoting PhilHealth’s programs and services to the public. It also highlighted the value of partnerships between government agencies and academic institutions, which help strengthen capacity-building efforts and ensure the effective delivery of public service
