Policy Statement

In alignment with the Universal Health Care Act (R.A. 11223), the Clean Air Act (R.A. 8749), the Clean Water Act (R.A. 9275), and the World Health Organization’s Sustainable Development Goals framework, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) affirms its commitment to safeguarding the health, safety, and well-being of its academic community and partner stakeholders.

EVSU shall:

Promote holistic health and wellness by strengthening preventive health care, regular medical check-ups, vaccination programs, and access to affordable, quality health services for students, faculty, and staff.

Ensure a safe and healthy learning environment through the maintenance of green, sustainable, and disaster-resilient campuses that uphold clean air, safe water, proper sanitation, and environmentally sound waste management practices.

Advance mental health and psychosocial well-being by institutionalizing counseling, peer-support initiatives, awareness campaigns, and referral systems, in accordance with the Mental Health Act (R.A. 11036).

EVSU Graduate Performance in Health-Related Professions

Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) continues to play a vital role in strengthening the health and well-being workforce of Eastern Visayas and the Philippines. Over the years, the University has consistently produced graduates from programs aligned with public health, community wellness, environmental sustainability, and industrial safety. These disciplines are central to supporting national priorities for a healthier population and a more resilient society.

Across all 104 academic programs, the University produced 4,567 graduates in 2023, 4,258 in 2024, and 4,484 in 2025, demonstrating steady output despite socio-economic challenges in the region. From these totals, EVSU produced graduates in health-related professions that include:

Health professions graduates have shown a positive upward trajectory, especially in programs such as Nutrition and Dietetics and Physical Education — rising from 154 graduates in 2023, to 207 in 2024, and 220 in 2025. This increase reflects the University’s commitment to expanding academic support and career pathways toward health and well-being fields.

Looking ahead, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) is committed to expanding its contributions to health, wellness, and sustainable human development in the region. The University is actively scaling its academic offerings, research programs, and community partnerships to meet the emerging needs of public health, nutrition security, environmental resilience, and sports development.

EVSU strengthened its academic pathways by offering the program of Bachelor in Human Services (BHumServ), the first in Region 8, designed to train professionals in addressing mental health, well-being, and community development through a multidisciplinary approach (human services, counseling, psychology, and education).
