Shared Sport Facilities Promoting Media Literacy and Digital Communication Skills
Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) continues to advance experiential and technology-driven learning by opening its facilities to national agencies in support of youth capacity-building. On February 19, 2024, the EVSU Inner Court became the venue for the Philippine Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Community Caravan, held as part of the University’s 117th Founding Anniversary celebration.
Through interactive digital displays and multimedia exhibitions, students were introduced to diverse fields in broadcast and digital communication. Participants took part in activities such as the Konsyerto sa Palasyo (KSP) Campus Singing Audition, Live Broadcasting Technical Experience, Radio Broadcasting Simulation, Presidential TV Broadcast Simulation, and a creative Photo Booth experience. These hands-on engagements equipped students with insights into media production, information dissemination, and public communication processes.
Students expressed appreciation for the opportunity to explore broadcasting for the first time and discover new avenues for creative expression and potential future careers. Shared Sport Facilities for Community Legal Access
Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) continues to strengthen its commitment to community engagement by maximizing its shared facilities to deliver essential public services. On August 16, the EVSU Inner Court served as a hub for free legal services offered to its adopted barangays in the Quarry District through a collaborative initiative between the EVSU Non-Teaching Personnel Association and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), Leyte Chapter.
During the outreach mission, ten lawyer-missionaries provided accessible and inclusive legal assistance tailored to the needs of the local community. Residents received guidance on a wide range of legal concerns, including issues related to violence against women and children (VAWC), family support and custody, land and boundary disputes, succession, civil registry documentation, and other civil and criminal matters. Simple legal documents such as affidavits and demand letters were also drafted on-site, while select documents were notarized free of charge.
