The training series featured two major components tailored to diverse learning needs:
1. Training for Administrators and Faculty with Designation

Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), in strong collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 8, launched the CyberSmartReady training series on May 27, 2024 as part of its commitment to advancing digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness in the region. This initiative provides free and open access to vital IT skills and online safety education—empowering not only EVSU students and faculty but also individuals across external campuses and partner communities.
The three-day program brought together participants from EVSU’s Main Campus and satellite campuses in Burauen, Carigara, Dulag, Ormoc, and Tanauan. Through expert-led sessions, attendees strengthened their understanding of cyber threats and enhanced their practical competencies in navigating an increasingly technology-driven environment.
The training featured comprehensive and engaging key sessions, including:
- Cybersecurity Essentials – Emphasized data protection and responsible online behavior, led by Ms. Claire Fernandez, Leyte Provincial Officer and Cybersecurity Focal of DICT Region 8.
- Philippine Startup Challenge – Encouraged innovation and startup ideation among young minds, delivered by Mr. George Michael Picardal, Project Development Officer, IIDB Region 8.
