Policy Statement

Pursuant to the Magna Carta of Women (R.A. 9710), the Gender and Development (GAD) Budget Policy, the Safe Spaces Act (R.A. 11313), and in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) commits to advancing gender equality, equity, and empowerment across all aspects of its academic and institutional life.

EVSU shall:

Ensure equal access to opportunities in leadership, governance, employment, education, training, and research for women and men, as well as persons of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression (SOGIE).

Integrate gender-responsive and inclusive approaches into curricula, research, extension services, and organizational practices, ensuring that gender perspectives are mainstreamed in all university programs.

Promote women’s empowerment and leadership by strengthening mentorship, capacity-building, and recognition programs for women in academia, research, and community service.

Maintain a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free environment through strict implementation of anti-discrimination and anti-sexual harassment policies, gender sensitivity training, and grievance redress mechanisms.

Advance research and advocacy on gender and development (GAD) to generate evidence-based policies, knowledge products, and community engagement initiatives that reduce gender disparities and support inclusive development.

Allocate and effectively utilize the mandated GAD budget to ensure that gender-responsive programs, projects, and activities are adequately resourced and sustainably implemented.

Engage in partnerships and collaborations with government agencies, civil society, and international institutions to advance gender equality initiatives, capacity development, and policy reforms.

Promote work-life balance and family-friendly policies that support the well-being of faculty, staff, and students, especially women and caregivers.

Through these commitments, EVSU envisions itself as a gender-responsive, inclusive, and empowering academic institution, producing leaders, innovators, and changemakers who champion equality and social justice in Eastern Visayas and beyond.
