Policy Statement
Pursuant to the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 (R.A. 9513), the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act of 2019 (R.A. 11285), and in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Philippine Energy Plan, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) commits to advancing the transition toward affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy in its campuses and communities.
EVSU shall:
Promote renewable energy adoption by investing in solar, wind, biomass, and other clean energy technologies across university campuses, serving as a model for green energy transition in higher education.
Implement energy efficiency and conservation measures through smart building designs, energy-efficient appliances, and behavior-change campaigns that reduce overall energy consumption.
Develop campus-based renewable energy laboratories and demonstration sites that serve as learning hubs for students, researchers, and communities on sustainable energy practices.
Integrate energy sustainability into curricula, research, and extension to build knowledge and capacity in renewable energy, climate action, and sustainable technologies.
Support innovation and applied research in clean energy systems to generate locally adaptable solutions that improve energy access, particularly in underserved and off-grid communities in Eastern Visayas.
Collaborate with government, industry, and international partners to strengthen policies, resource mobilization, and investments in renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies.
Empower communities through energy literacy programs that promote household and community adoption of clean and affordable energy solutions.
Monitor, evaluate, and reduce EVSU’s institutional carbon footprint by adopting transparent sustainability reporting and continuous improvement mechanisms.
Through these commitments, EVSU envisions itself as a leader in clean energy and sustainability, driving innovation, education, and partnerships that expand energy access, reduce environmental impact, and strengthen resilience in Eastern Visayas and beyond.
