In support of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, the Gender and Development Office, under the leadership of Dr. Fatima Socorro M. Quianzon, organized an event titled “Women Economic Empowerment: Breaking the Chain of Economic Dependence” on Dec. 6, 2024 at the EVSU Ordex Training Room. This initiative aims to enhance financial literacy among women and provide them with practical tools and systems to achieve economic empowerment.
Ms. Sandra D. Solis, the event’s resource speaker, delivered a powerful session on the steps to economic empowerment for women. With her extensive background in insurance and finance, she expertly equipped participants with practical financial techniques and heightened their financial awareness, fostering a sense of independence and resilience.
Dr. Quianzon concluded the event with a poignant closing address, stating, “We are fully protected. The thing is, we are not aware of our protection.” She emphasized that a significant aspect of this protection is empowering women through forums focused on financial literacy and empowerment.
