Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) took part in the hybrid Regional Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony on May 19, joining fellow State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from across Eastern Visayas. The event commemorated the 31st Founding Anniversary of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the 5th National Higher Education Day, as declared under Republic Act No. 11522. This year’s celebration carried the theme, “Higher Heights in Higher Education,” encapsulating the continuing strides of Philippine higher education institutions in excellence, inclusivity, and innovation.
During the ceremony, CHED Regional Office VIII Director Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe expressed his appreciation for the unwavering support of SUCs and HEIs in the region. He also reminded participating institutions of the September 2025 deadline for acquiring Certificates of Program Compliance (COPCs), stressing its significance in ensuring academic programs meet CHED’s minimum quality standards. The regional ceremony, conducted simultaneously across various campuses, served as a powerful symbol of unity and commitment to academic excellence throughout Eastern Visayas.
Additionally, newly reappointed EVSU President Dr. Dennis C. de Paz expressed his gratitude following the results of his performance evaluation, where he achieved an outstanding rating of 96%. His reappointment stands as testament to his unifying leadership and the university’s progress under his administration.
