News 2,086 graduates receive diploma; Solons commend graduates

Two thousand eighty-six graduands marched the aisle and received the most coveted diploma in the 101st Commencement Exercises of Eastern Visayas State University, July 18-19, 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Tacloban City Convention Center (Tacloban Astrodome).

The two-day graduation ceremonies became instrumental in gathering the 442 graduands from the College of Education; 516-College of Business and Entrepreneurship; 255 – College of Arts and Sciences; 84- College of Architecture and Allied Disciplines (CAAD), 501- College of Engineering (COE), and 288- College of Technology (COT).

Brilliant solons of the country with Waray descent- Hon. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, House Speaker, House of Representatives 19th Congress, ably represented by Hon. Jude A. Acidre, Tingog Party List Representative, and Senator Imee R. Marcos served as the Commencement Speakers of the said momentous occasion.

Hon. Jude A. Acidre, Tingog, Party List Representative, delivered an inspirational message to the COED, CAS, and COBE graduates by highlighting the establishment of collective positive changes in the actions of the graduates along with their journey for the betterment of the nation.

“I encourage you to keep this in mind, success isn’t solely about your personal achievements. It is about the difference you make in the lives of others. It is about utilizing your talents and knowledge to serve your community and your nation,” Hon. Acidre said.

Further, Hon. Acidre also emphasized that the future of the nation is intertwined with aspirations. “You, the young, the passionate, are not merely the leaders of tomorrow but the agent of change today,” he added.

On the same occasion, Senator Imee R. Marcos encouraged the graduates of the COE, CAAD, and COT by saying, “Embrace your responsibility with traditional Filipino sensitivity and purpose with the culture to which we are born and with deep understanding of unique and special Filipino spirits. Dream high, dream big, and never let go of your dreams”

Moreover, the senator also awarded the Sen. Imee Marcos Academic Excellence Award to 10 deserving graduates as reward of their hard work and perseverance.

The ceremony included the singing of the graduation song, giving tribute to their parents, and oath-taking as new alumni of the academic institution.
