Eight programs of Eastern Visayas State University underwent the scrutiny of the Accrediting Agency of the Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP) during the Virtual Accreditation Survey Visit on November 7-12, 2022.
The programs under survey are the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (4th Survey Revisit of Areas II, III,IV,V,VII,& X), Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (4th Survey Revisit of Areas II, III,IV,V,VII, & X), Master of Rural Development (4th Survey Revisit for Areas I,II,III,V,VI, &VII), Master of Arts in Education Major in: Language Instruction, Mathematics (Secondary and Elementary), Industrial Education, Physical Education, Home Economics, Administration and Supervision, Guidance and Counseling, Advanced Science Education, and Basic Science Education (4th Survey Revisit for Areas I, III,IV,VII,& X), Doctor of Philosophy in Education Major in Educational Programs Management (4th Survey Revisit for Areas I,III,IV,VII,&X), Bachelor of Science in Marketing(3rd Survey Phase 1), Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (3rd Survey Phase 1), and Bachelor of Science in Architecture (3rd Survey Phase 1).
In the opening meeting, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Lydia M. Morante, mentioned the importance of accreditation for the growth of the university for it promotes academic excellence among SUCs and brings the university to greater heights.She is further optimistic that the growth of the university is reflected in the documents submitted.
Meanwhile, the University President, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, commended the Accreditation Task Force for the relentless efforts in making the accreditation survey visit possible. He further emphasized in his words “Attaining a good result in the accreditation would mean meeting and acceding the quality standards.Thus, let us continue to work hand-in-hand to make it happen”.
The Director of UQAAC and the concurrent Director of IMASO and UQMR, Prof. Renato E. Martija introduced the university key officials.
In her introduction of the AACCUP Survey Team, the Overall Coordinator, Dr. Divinagracia M. de Guzman, pointed out the importance of accreditation, to wit: SUC Leveling, Budgetary request, requirement in the attainment of Center for Development and Center of Excellence, desire to give the students quality programs, among others.
Being a Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) holder is a mandatory requirement in the accreditation. She further specified that attaining the Level 4 status requires a weighted mean of 4.5 in all areas and no rating lower than 4.0. On the other hand, the Level 3 status requires a weighted mean of 4.0 and no rating lower than 3.5.
In the validation phase, a virtual interview with stakeholders and virtual classroom observations will be done.
