News CAS responds to common classroom emergencies

The College of Arts and Sciences of Eastern Visayas State University conducted a Workshop on “Responding to Common Classroom Emergencies”, April 17 and April 24 at Graduate School Function Hall, Eastern Visayas State University, Tacloban City.

Through the initiative of the Dean Glenda B. Tupaz, the significant inputs of Prof. Charlie Ripalda, and the attendance of the faculty members, the workshop was realized.

The development of the National Disaster Risk Management Framework , in conjunction with RA 10121, provides a comprehensive. all-hazard,multi-sectoral, inter-agency, and community-based approach to disaster risk management. Stipulated in Section 14 of RA 10121 is the incorporation of disaster risk education into the educational curriculum of Department of Education (DepEd), CHED, and TESDA.

The workshop was designed to properly prepare CAS faculty to take appropriate safety measures in the event of a potentially hazardous circumstance in the classroom.

Through the essential activity, the CAS faculty members have been provided with the basic know-how to respond safely, quickly, and effectively if emergency situations occur, not only for the CAS students but for the entire university and community as a whole.
