News Celebrating academic success, honoring excellence, and inspiring future generations during CAS Students’ Parangal

In institutions such as the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), providing academic recognition is an excellent way to acknowledge outstanding academic achievement, encourage students to perform and maximize their abilities, and instill within them that learning is paramount. It is a positive means to motivate development and encourage character building in school. In a predominantly challenging world, having a reward system can improve educational experiences.

On the 3rd of June 2024, the CAS Students’ Parangal or Adlaw Han Pagkilala 2024 was celebrated by selected graduating students, their families and the faculty of the college. The ceremony, with the theme “Celebrating Academic Success, Honoring Excellence, Inspiring Future Generations”, started at 8 o’clock in the morning and was held at the Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium, EVSU- Main. The program brought together distinguished guests including the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Lydia M. Morante who graciously delivered the welcome message and was highlighted by the inspirational message of the University President, Dr. Dennis C. De Paz.

Significant awards were presented by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Dr. Glenda B. Tupaz with the generous assistance of various CAS Department Heads. Among them were the Excellence Service Award, OJT Excellence Award, Excellent Researcher Award, Best Thesis Award, Most Promising Student Award, Student Excellence Award, and mainly, the Meritable Distinction Award that was bestowed on the student with the highest General Weighted Average, Ms. Wella May B. Caratina, Bachelor of Science and Statistics. Nearing the end of the program, EVSU’s Most Outstanding Student for School Year 2024, Ms. Meraflor O. Pecore, conveyed an exceptional Student Address.

The event was further commemorated through a special song by the students, honoring the incessant support of the college, the entire university, and above all, their families. Their parents, aunts, uncles, friends, and relations who have moved mountains to provide the utmost support system for them to finally graduate.

As a progressive institution, EVSU will continue to employ its purpose by providing academic recognition to deserving students aligned with its core values, perpetuating the impactful commencement ripple effect for generations to come.
