Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) recently reached a significant milestone in academic quality and compliance after being ranked as the third top university in Region 8 by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in terms of Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC).
Said recognition comes on the heels of CHED’s awarding of dual COPCs to EVSU for its Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering programs on May 27, 2025.
These latest certifications bring EVSU’s total number of COPC-approved programs to 77 out of 104, giving the university an impressive 74% compliance rate.
This feat places EVSU behind only two other universities in the region and attests to the institution’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and CHED’s regulatory standards.
The COPC is a formal recognition issued by CHED, which guarantees that a program offered by a state university or college complies with the minimum requirements under the policies, standards, and guidelines set by the commission.
Over the past years, EVSU has rallied all of its resources in a spirited effort to align its programs with CHED standards over the past years, and this recent ranking serves as a validation of those efforts.
As EVSU continues to work toward full COPC coverage for all its academic offerings, this achievement serves as a noteworthy step forward in its mission to become a leading university in the region and beyond.
