Tacloban City – After almost a year since the launch of the Metals and Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC), key officials of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) visited the center, January 17, 2025.

The MEIC helps to develop a skilled workforce and fosters the development of creative solutions in the M&E sector by providing local institutions with up-to-date tools and resources.

Being the first in the region, the collaboration between the DOST, EVSU, and various stakeholders is anticipated to promote sustainable development in Eastern Visayas’  M&E sector generating opportunities in both academic and industrial fields.

The MEIC is an initiative by DOST that seeks to enhance innovation, improve technology transfer, and advance commercialization capabilities, which will act as a channel for promoting economic development and industrial sustainability. Its goal is to bridge the gap between education and industry through the state-of-the-art equipment that serves as a hub for the students and industry professionals to engage in a hands-on learning with the advanced manufacturing processes.
