Burauen, Leyte — The Eastern Visayas State University–Burauen Campus (EVSU–BC) officially kicked off its 50th Founding Anniversary celebration with a series of festive, faith-filled, and action-packed activities that brought together students, faculty, alumni, and the local community on October 27, 2025.
Carrying the theme “50th Golden Harvest of Inclusivity and Empowerment Towards One EVSU 2.0,” the week-long celebration began with a thrilling football tournament held at the campus grounds. Despite the steady rain, the spirit of sportsmanship prevailed as five teams in the Men’s Open category and two in the Under-18 division battled it out on the field. The ceremonial kickoff was led by Prof. Jommel Perante, Sports Development Coordinator, officially opening the sports fest that set the tone for the anniversary week.
The campus community came together for a motorcade along the streets of Burauen, marking the official start of the four-day golden celebration. The colorful parade featured the participation of local police officers, faculty and staff, students from various departments, and the candidates for Mr. and Ms. EVSU–BC, showcasing unity and pride in the institution’s enduring legacy.
Immediately after, a solemn Thanksgiving Mass was held at the campus grounds, presided over by Rev. Fr. Carlos D. Rodriguez Jr. The mass served as a moment of reflection and gratitude for the university’s five decades of service in advancing education and community development in Eastern Visayas.
Adding to the festive mood, EVSU–Burauen alumni returned home to their beloved campus for the 50th Alumni Homecoming celebration. The event, which also carried the golden jubilee theme, was filled with nostalgia, recognition, and renewed camaraderie among graduates, faculty, and staff.
The homecoming featured games, friendly competitions, and the election of new alumni officers. A highlight of the event was the crowning of Dr. Renato Namia Sr. and Prof. Norma Elmido as Mr. and Ms. Alumni Homecoming 2025, adding prestige and joy to the milestone celebration.
As EVSU–Burauen Campus celebrates its golden year, the community looks ahead with renewed commitment to inclusivity, empowerment, and excellence — living out the spirit of One EVSU 2.0 for generations to come.
