The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) held its much-anticipated Recognition Day today, March 30, 2025, at the Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium (MRMA) of the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) main campus.
The CAS Students’ Parangal, also known as Adlaw han Pagkilala, carried the inspiring theme: “Celebrating Excellence and Virtue as Hallmarks of Scholarly Distinction and Success.” The annualy-held event served as a platform to honor and celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of students from graduating courses.
The ceremony brought together esteemed guests, faculty members, and students and their loved ones to witness this special occasion. A series of prestigious awards were then presented by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Glenda B. Tupaz, alongside various CAS Department Heads.
These awards were handed in recognition of students who demonstrated exceptional talent, hard work, and commitment in different fields. These include the Excellence in Service Award for students who exhibited outstanding dedication to community service and leadership; the Sports Award for remarkable achievements in athletics and sportsmanship; the Cultural Award for students who showcased extraordinary talent in the arts and culture; the OJT Excellence Award for exemplary performance during on-the-job training; the Ethical Researcher Award for conducting research with integrity and academic rigor; the Best Thesis Award for producing an outstanding research study; the Most Promising Student Award recognizing students with exceptional potential in their respective fields; and the CAS Academic Achiever Award for maintaining excellent scholastic performance throughout their academic journey.
Additionally, the college proudly recognized its finalists from the prestigious EVSU Most Outstanding Student (MOS) 2025 competition: Princess P. Amestoso, 4th runner-up; Daphnie N. Costa, 3rd runner-up; and Liziel Ann U. Altejar, 2nd runner-up.
One of the most heartfelt moments of the ceremony was the valedictory speech delivered by CAS’s Magna Cum Laude, Daphnie N. Costa, who concluded her address with an inspiring quote: “May we continue to grow not just in intellect but in heart.”
As an institution deeply committed to upholding a culture of academic excellence and personal integrity, EVSU will continue to promote the spirit of the CAS Parangal, motivating students to strive for greatness while instilling values of character-building and holistic development.
