News EVSU Celebrates 116th Founding Anniversary; MOA Signing Highlights the events

The Eastern Visayas State University commenced its 116th Founding Anniversary celebration on February 14 and will run until February 17 with the theme: “One EVSU: Leveraging work, passion, and dedication.”

The Day 1 of the week-long festivities started with a thanksgiving mass, LGU Babatngon Deed of Donation signing, Project Hope MOA signing, Feb-Ibig Fair, Playground Demonstration, Kanyaw han Sinirangan, and EVSU Night Symphony.

Hon. Eleonor Lugnasin, the Municipal Mayor of LGU Babatngon, graced the Deed of Donation Signing between LGU Babatngon and Eastern Visayas State University. The said 10 hectares of land located at Brgy. Rizal II, Babatngon, Leyte will be used for educational and allied purposes.

Likewise, a MOA signing between EVSU Natural Sciences Department and CENRO Palo took place. The “ADOPT A SITE PROGRAM” in response to the National Greening Program (NGP) of the Government was the root behind this endeavor. The project involves 2 hectares of Rattan and Indigenous Trees plantation located at Bry. Bacong, Babatngon, Leyte. The said project costs P 30, 000.00 pesos.

Meanwhile, the Student Affairs and Services Office (SASO), through the Supreme Student Government sponsored the Feb-Ibig Fair and facilitated the putting up of organizational booths to showcase the accomplishments of the registered organizations of the campus.

In her opening message, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Lydia M. Morante, emphasized the message of gratefulness and love in this season as the University embarks on a journey for excellence and success.

Furthermore, the University President, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, expressed, “…where internationalization is prime, research and innovation become the heartbeat of our culture, where instruction and learning become more engaging and fascinating, and where this institution becomes the center of growth and development to serve quality education to the students as well as stakeholders”.

The mob dance of selected CAPED AND SLS students added color to the festivities and signaled the official opening of the events.

The Kanyaw Han Sinirangan Competition, conceptualized by Prof. Jerry Mores and Prof. Asyl Amancio, brought excitement to the crowd.

Mr. Roland Calleja, Music and dance trainor, the Chair of the panel of judges; Ms. Maryjoy Bernadas, Deped Division Choirmaster, and Ms.Marion Francisco, a dance and music trainer of Holy Infant College, a nightingale choirmaster, served as judges of the said competition.

They declared the winners as follows: 1st place CAAD,2nd place COED, and 3rd place COBE.

The EVSU Night Symphony sealed the Day 1 of the celebration.
