News EVSU co-hosts Cine Europa 28

The Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), through its Office of Internationalization, is currently co-hosting the 28th Cine Europa Film Festival in partnership with the European Union Delegation in the Philippines.

The festival officially opened on September 15, is currently showing European films at the Studio Room of the ORDEX Building, and will run until September 20, 2025.

For the first time, EVSU takes part in co-hosting the prestigious international film festival, which is traditionally screened in Manila and other major cities across the country.

This year’s Tacloban leg features 12 films from various European nations, spanning different genres that all captures the continent’s vibrant cultures, histories, and values.

Cine Europa is an avenue for dialogue, learning, and cooperation. The films, presenting narratives on issues such as identity, diversity, human dignity, sustainability, and inclusion, the festival allows students and communities to experience education beyond the classroom and to deepen their appreciation of cultures beyond their own.

By making international films accessible to local audiences, the initiative bridges communities and fosters inclusive participation in global conversations.

EVSU’s partnership with Cine Europa aligns with the university’s thrust to pursue more meaningful partnerships, even outside academia. Through these initiatives, the university puts care into developing more globally aware and socially responsive EVSUnistas.
