News EVSU community commemorates Lenten Season with Stations of the Cross

In observance of the Lenten Season, the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) community conducted the Stations of the Cross within the Main Campus, aligning with the traditions of the Catholic Church.

The activity, held in the presence of University Chaplain Rev. Fr. Kelvin Joy M. Apurillo, was participated in by students, faculty, and staff, who solemnly journeyed through the designated stations positioned across various campus buildings. Each station represented a significant moment in the Passion of Christ, providing the faithful with opportunities for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal.

The Stations of the Cross trace their roots to the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem—a traditional processional route believed to follow the path Jesus walked to Mount Calvary. This symbolic pilgrimage is a long-standing Catholic tradition aimed at deepening the faithful’s connection to Christ’s suffering and sacrifice.

Through the observance of the Stations of the Cross, EVSU promotes an environment that nurtures both academic excellence and spiritual growth, reflecting its commitment to holistic education.
