Tacloban City, Philippines — Under a clear morning sky and amidst a jubilant atmosphere, members of the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) community gathered this morning, September 1, 2025, at the university quadrangle to commence the day with a flag-raising ceremony.
Following the ceremony, the crowd proceeded to the entrance of the university’s basketball court, where anticipation filled the air as faculty, staff, students, and guests awaited the arrival of University President Dr. Dennis C. de Paz and his family.
Dressed in traditional Filipino attire, faculty and non-faculty personnel stood in formation alongside the NROTC Unit-EVSU main, prepared to extend a warm and dignified welcome. The program was gracefully led by Mr. Rex B. Palompon, who offered a respectful introduction of the President’s family.
Escorted by Prof. Jerry E. Ochea, Dr. de Paz made his formal entrance, walking with poise toward the central platform to receive the ceremonial salute. He then proceeded along the red carpet, engaging the EVSU community with heartfelt gestures of gratitude and camaraderie. His return to the platform marked a momentous occasion—symbolizing unity, pride, and renewed commitment to the university’s mission.
