News EVSU, DENR lead tree planting, waste management initiatives as part of year-end activities

Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), through the initiative of its administration, conducted a tree planting activity in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on December 17. The activity forms part of the university’s continuing efforts to strengthen environmental stewardship and promote sustainability across its campuses.

University officials, faculty members, and personnel took part in the tree planting, a testament to the university’s collective commitment to environmental protection and climate responsibility. The collaboration with DENR puts a spotlight on the shared goal of restoring and protecting natural resources while fostering a culture of ecological awareness within the academic community.

Complementing the tree planting initiative, DENR personnel also facilitated a seminar on proper waste management for EVSU personnel. The discussion focused on practical approaches to waste segregation, reduction, and responsible disposal, emphasizing the role of individual and institutional actions in addressing environmental challenges.

These activities signify another step toward EVSU’s long-term vision of becoming a National University for Resilience and Climate Action (NURCA). By integrating environmental action with capacity-building initiatives, the university continues to align its programs with sustainability principles and climate-responsive development, reflecting its commitment to resilience, education, and public service.
