News Faculty-extensionist Prof. Shirley Siozon receives national accolades; DNB award

Manila, Philippines – On September 18, 2024, Eastern Visayas State University’s (EVSU) Associate Professor and extensionist, Prof. Shirley Siozon, was honored with the prestigious Dangal ng Bayan (DNB) Award during the 2024 Outstanding Government Workers Awarding Ceremony at the Rizal Ceremonial Hall of Malacañang Palace.

According to the Civil Service Commission, the Dangal ng Bayan award is given to government employees who consistently demonstrate extraordinary acts of public services based on the eight norms of conduct provided under Republic Act no. 6713. During the ceremonies, the award was presented by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., with assistance from Civil Service Commission Chairperson Karlo A. B. Nograles, alongside Commissioners Aileen Lourdes A. Lizada and Ryan Alvin R. Acosta.

Prof. Siozon, a renowned figure within the EVSU community, was previously recognized as the university’s Best Extensionist during the 2023 EVSUnista Awards. As the first-ever EVSU faculty member to receive the Dangal ng Bayan Award, Prof. Siozon’s achievement highlights her exemplary service to the public. This milestone also serves as a testament to EVSU’s progress towards becoming a premier university, specifically, it highlights the university’s commitment to the promotion of professionalism and sustainable development among its workforce.
