The Eastern Visayas State University hosted the 4th National Conference in Methodological Advances in Research (NCMAR) with the theme “Responding to Disruptions in the Academic World Through Methodological Advances in Research, February 23-24, 2023 via zoom.
The 4th National Conference on Methodological Advances in Research was conceived after two national research conferences and one International Conference on advanced research methodologies were held in Regions 7 and 8 in the Philippines in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022 respectively.
The conferences focused on fractal statistics, data mining and theory building, simulation and modeling, multivariate methods, and other research methods such as developmental, experimental, quantitative and qualitative.
Dr. Jude A. Duarte, the University President of Southern Leyte State University and the BOD Chair of the Visayas Mindanao Consortium for Journal Publication, Inc. (VMCJPI), emphasized in his talk the importance of disseminating research findings through conferences.
Meanwhile, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, the University President of Eastern Visayas State University, mentioned that being a researcher always requires hard work, dedication, collaboration among others.
He further elaborated that participating in research congress gives everyone the opportunity to be acquainted with top notch researchers and possible collaborations may take place.
Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, the Vice-President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services of Southern Leyte State University and the TWG Chair of VMCJPI, presented the participating universities, to wit: North Eastern Mindanao State University – 7 participants; Bukidnon State University- 7; Samar State University-13; University of San Jose -Recoletos- 15; Leyte Normal University-1 ;University of Northern Philippines- 5; Eastern Visayas State University – 9; Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology-7;Southern Leyte State University- 3;Cebu Normal University-23; Biliran Province State University-1;Cebu Technological University-1;Mountain Province State Polytechnic College- 4; Pampanga State Agricultural University-1;Guimara State University-1.
The Vice-President for Research, Extension and Publication, Cebu Normal University, Dr. Angeline M. Pogoy, introduced the Director, Center for Research and Development of Cebu Normal University, Dr. Daisy R. Palompon who served as the plenary speaker in the topic “Revisiting the Role of Methodological Advances in Research in the Midst of Disruptions”.
Dr. Aldrin A. Darilag, Commissioner, Commission on Higher Education, delivered the keynote address.
The Vice-President for Research, Development, and Extension Services of Eastern Visayas State University, Dr. Analyn C. Españo, presented the criteria for judging of Best Paper and introduced the panel of judges.
The papers are pre-judged following the criteria set: 25% -originality; 25%- relevance to Science and Technology; 25%- Scientific and Methodological Soundness; 25%- Organization and Clarity of the Manuscript.
