Tacloban City, Philippines – The Eastern Visayas State University, represented by university president, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, forged a partnership with ASEZ WAO, an international volunteer group focused on sustainable development and environmental advocacy. The collaboration was facilitated by the Office of the Vice President for Internationalization and External Affairs and was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) held on August 8, 2024, at the ORDExS Studio Room.
Representing ASEZ WAO were Mr. Matthew Park, the organization’s manager, and Ms. Pia Choi, the team leader. ASEZ WAO, which stands for “Let’s Save the Earth from A to Z as One Family,” is a dynamic group of young adult volunteers dedicated to addressing global challenges such as climate change, ecosystem preservation, and educational enhancement.
Mr. Park mentioned that EVSU is the first SUC in the region to partner with ASEZ WAO. This landmark collaboration aims to launch initiatives that promote the sustainable development of both humanity and the environment. The partnership is expected to open up a range of opportunities for EVSU to spearhead projects focused on community outreach, environmental stewardship, and well-being promotion.
As outlined in the MOU, EVSU and ASEZ WAO will collaborate on various campaigns aligned with the international group’s core mission. These initiatives are categorized into two main areas: Campaigns for Humanity and Campaigns for Earth. Through these campaigns, the partnership seeks to create a lasting impact on both the local community and the broader global environment.
