News EVSU intensifies GAD initiatives through anti-sexual harassment seminar

As part of Eastern Visayas State University’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its Gender and Development (GAD) mainstreaming efforts, the university conducted an anti-sexual harassment seminar on November 18, 2025, at the Graduate School Function Hall.

The activity featured insights from distinguished resource speakers Atty. Jann Claudine M. Amago-Hernandez and Atty. Rodolph B. Hernandez, Jr., head of EVSU’s Legal Office, who provided legal and practical guidance on fostering safe and respectful learning environments.

Topics focused on Republic Act 7877, or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995, and Republic Act 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act or “Bawal Bastos” Law, emphasizing their relevance in promoting protection, accountability, and gender-responsive practices within the university.

Guided by the theme “Building a Culture of Respect and Accountability to End Sexual Harassment,” the seminar gathered faculty members and students from across the Main Campus. The discussions accentuated key concepts, complexities, and considerations essential in advancing a more inclusive and equitable academic community.
