News EVSU-IZN, Czech Embassy hold DRRM webinar

The Eastern Visayas State University, through its Office of Internationalization for Higher Education, partnered with the Embassy of Czech Republic to the Philippines to hold a webinar in commemoration of the 12th year of Super Typhoon Yolanda on Global Insights on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management held via Google Meet, Friday, November 7.

Eisuke Tachikawa, CEO of Nosigner in Japan; Maria Jullie Anne Culibar, DRR Specialist; and Dr. Jake Rom Cadag, Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines, served as guest speakers and delivered several From Tragedy to Transformation discussions.

University officials led by EVSU president Dr. Dennis C. De Paz, together with Hon. Eva Tenzin, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and Head of Mission representing His Excellency Karel Hejc, joined the webinar alongside members of the EVSU community across the system.

Dr. Analyn C. Españo, Vice President for Student Development, Internationalization, and External Affairs, opened the webinar with a message centered on strength and resilience.

A commemorative video presentation was also shown to honor the memory of Super Typhoon Yolanda’s devastation in Eastern Visayas twelve years ago.

Partnerships such as this are important in advancing global perspectives on disaster risk reduction and management, reinforcing EVSU’s role as a proactive institution that promotes resilience, sustainability, and community preparedness in the face of climate-related challenges. Such initiatives further strengthen the university’s thrust of becoming a National University for Resilience and Climate Action (NURCA).
