The Eastern Visayas State University, through its Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) Local Chapter, showcased its excellence as it competed against various universities across Region 8 during the 28th Regional Mid-Year Convention (RMYC) 2025 held on November 21–24, 2025, at St. Peter’s College of Ormoc.
The convention is a major annual gathering of accredited Local Chapters in Eastern Visayas, designed to enhance the knowledge of Region 8 JPIAns, highlight their academic and creative abilities, and foster camaraderie through a series of academic and non-academic activities.
With strong performances throughout the event, EVSU delegates once again demonstrated their capability and commitment, earning numerous recognitions across both academic and cultural competitions.
In the academic events, the delegates secured commendable placements. Richemyll Dave Etulle earned second place in Cup 5: Regulatory Framework for Business Transactions, while Jeanmarie Dajotoy also achieved second place in Cup 4: Management Services. EVSU’s team of Jean Rose Dedace, Renier Maceda, and Princess Zyra Palaña brought home first place in the Audit Case Study. In the Tax Case Study, the team composed of Dannah Marie Amamangpang, Clint Joseph Bactol, and Eroll Daylo Tañola secured second place. The Management Services Case Study team, composed of Max Samson Briones, Gabriel Estonio Delos Reyes, and Kemart Villegas, placed third. Additional academic achievements included third-place finishes in the Math Challenge (Angelica Arado, Philip Andre Maroto, and Eve Zary Jamie Pacad), the Calculator Challenge (Ronette Estur), and JPIArymid (Dannah Marie Amamangpang and Sherilyn Daang).
EVSU also excelled in the non-academic category. Kirk Julius Sartorio and Reijhen Denise Indangan were named second runners-up for Mr. and Ms. Ambassador of Goodwill respectively. In JPIA’s Next Top Model, model Ariel Adizas claimed first place alongside designers Airene Acabado, Lonezaire Adre, Tricia Ampatin, Gindy Conchada, and Ashley Jacinto. The Pentatonix group, composed of Lonezaire Adre, Max Samson Briones, Ashley Jacinto, Princess Zyra Palaña, and Prince Lejard Salvaña, secured first place. Laurence Amargo and Lonezaire Adre earned second place in the Vocal Duet, while Amargo also finished second in the Your Face Sounds Familiar competition.
Overall, EVSU emerged as the overall second runner-up of the convention, placed second runner-up in the Non-Academics League, and ranked fourth in the Academics League.
These accomplishments reflect the dedication, teamwork, and growing excellence of EVSU’s JPIA delegates as they represented the university with pride. The results affirm EVSU’s commitment to nurturing competence not only in academics but also in the diverse talents of its students.
