News ORDExS holds MOCCOV operations training for MDRRMCs
As part of its ongoing partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to integrate advanced technology into disaster response and mitigation, EVSU, through its Office of Research and Development, and Extension Service (ORDExS), conducted a hands-on training on May 20, 2025.

The session, held at the ORDExS studio room, focused on the management and operation of the Mobile Command and Control Vehicle (MOCCOV) for Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils from various municipalities.

The training covered key operational aspects of the MOCCOV. Participants were taught how to use its communication systems to establish and maintain field coordination during emergencies. They were also introduced to the vehicle’s surveillance and monitoring systems, which include live-feed cameras and a drone.

A demonstration was held to show responders how to operate the drone for aerial monitoring during disaster scenarios. The session also included guidance on setting up an incident command system using the MOCCOV as a mobile base.

To reinforce the training, a field simulation was conducted where participants practiced deploying the vehicle and managing an emergency response scenario.

The initiative forms part of DOST’s “Application of Science, Technology and Innovation for the Enhancement of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Region 8” project.
