The Eastern Visayas State University, through the Graduate School and the Office of Internationalization , forges partnership with Pederasyon ng mga Barangay Kagawad ng Pilipinas, Inc.(PBKP) Tacloban City Chapter through a Memorandum of Agreement Signing on January 23, Monday at the Conference Room, Executive House.
Envisioned to broaden its partnership with the community, the Graduate School embodies the university mandate to perform not only in areas of production, instruction, and research but also in extension services. “We are gathered here to build partnership with the PBKP as part of the university’s mandated function,” said GS Dean Gabino Petilos.
As a duly registered organization under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Pederasyon ng Mga Barangay Kagawad Ng Pilipinas Inc., Tacloban City Chapter existed to promote the general welfare and well-being of the Sangguniang Barangay.
It further determines the representation of the Barangay Kagawad in the league to ventilate, articulate, and crystallize issues affecting the barangay governance and formulate solutions through proper and legal means.
The Graduate School of the University plays an integral role in continuing professional education and Developing PBKP Tacloban City Chapter. The latter envisions that the Barangay Kagawads be capacitated and educated with technical workforce resources which EVSU can keenly offer. “This convergence of Eastern Visayas State University and PBKP is a beginning of concrete and tangible programs and projects that will benefit both parties,” Vice President for Research, Extension, and Development Analyn Españo foregrounded.
Meanwhile, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz lauded the productive activity of the Office of the Research, Development, and Extension Services. “This is a perfect partnership considering that Graduate School is a group that can deliver quality partnership, especially on the extension side,” Dr. de Paz mentioned.
The MOA signing culminated with the closing message of the Vice President for Internationalization, Danilo Pulma. “With this engagement that EVSU has entered, they have the opportunity to share their expertise and the opportunity to help the communities,” VP Pulma reiterated.
Should this be realized, this partnership will benefit 138 Barangays with 966 Barangay Kagawad across the city, who will be empowered to acquire technical expertise, promote good governance, and legislate barangay ordinances.
