News DILG presents Good Governance Award 2024 to EVSU

Tacloban City, Philippines – Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) has been recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as a 2024 Local Governance Champion for its unwavering partnership in advancing good governance and community development in Eastern Visayas.

Said award was conferred during RAYHAK 2024: Celebrating Good Local Governance, held on October 25 at the People’s Center and Library in Tacloban City. This event capped the Local Government Month Celebration, honoring local government units (LGUs) and stakeholders, including Local Resource Institutions (LRIs), National Government Agencies (NGAs), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), for their pivotal contributions to regional growth and effective service delivery.

EVSU stood out in the LRI category for its consistent collaboration with the DILG and LGUs, which has significantly enhanced public service delivery, promoted transparency, and empowered local communities.

DILG Region 8 Director Arnel M. Agabe highlighted the importance of partnerships in his keynote speech, noting the contributions of stakeholders over the 33 years since the enactment of the Local Government Code of 1991. He praised awardees for their role in fostering peace, security, and sustainable development, emphasizing the shared mission of bridging gaps between government and communities.

The event brought together LGU representatives, DILG officials, and other key players in local governance, underscoring the collective efforts needed to achieve effective governance at all levels.

EVSU’s President affirmed the university’s dedication to advancing good governance, rooted in its core values of excellence, value-driven service, and harmony. As a committed partner, EVSU continues to support the DILG’s mission of creating resilient and empowered communities.
