QUEZON CITY – The Future Earth Philippines (FEP) recently conducted the annual FEP Strategic Planning Sessions last March 4-5, 2025 at the University Hotel, Diliman.
Said gathering is held to foster collaboration among experts and thought leaders on sustainable development and to come up with realistic solutions to contemporary environmental issues. The organization extended an exclusive invitation to the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) through the Research and Development Office, headed by Dr. Pearl Aphrodite B. Carnice. In her role as Director, Dr. Carnice provided updates on EVSU’s progress as an Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Action Network Pilot Hub.
Dr. Lourdes J. Cruz, a National Scientist and the Project Leader of FEP, highlighted that the sessions are aimed to shape the trajectory of the Future Earth’s initiatives in the nation for the coming years. Day 1 of the program focused on an extensive review of the organization’s core values and strategies, while Day 2 was dedicated to networking and strengthening partnerships and operations between partner agencies.
EVSU’s participation in such initiatives are part of its efforts to mitigate climate change through sustainable development. Most recently, the university, through the Department of Natural Sciences and Pollution Control, conducted a Waste Management Orientation for its utility staff on March 3. Aligned with the nation’s dedication to environmental preservation, EVSU remains steadfast in its pursuit of becoming a SMART and green university.
