TACLOBAN CITY – EVSU’s Office of Internationalization and External Affairs hosted a series of impactful activities at the EVSU Graduate School Function Hall on February 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM. This gathering was a highlight of the institution’s week-long celebration of its 118th founding anniversary, themed “One EVSU at 118: Building Futures Through Smart Innovation.”
The event kicked off with the simultaneous signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) and Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) between EVSU and its local and international partners, symbolizing a commitment to collaborative endeavors. Following the signing ceremony, a forum was held with the university’s industry partners and a stakeholders’ consultation. The event was attended by key university officials from both the main and external campuses, college deans, and department heads.
Vice President Danilo B. Pulma opened the proceedings with a heartfelt address, emphasizing EVSU’s unified commitment to collaboration, innovation, and service. He highlighted that the success of research, extension services, instruction, and quality education hinges on strong and meaningful partnerships.
“These partnerships are a testament to the power of collaboration and that when we come together, we will achieve more and better. Our combined expertise enriches our educational programs, external endeavors among others and will surely build a foundation for continued success,” Dr. Dennis C. de Paz stated in his inspirational address.
An industry partner from the field of alternative learning systems remarked that this collaborative initiative marks another milestone in the commitment to strengthening academia-industry partnerships. In her speech, Education Program Supervisor, Maria Joy A. Arias said “Ensuring that education remains responsive to the ever-evolving demands of the workforce. As we formalize these agreements, we are laying the groundwork for more meaningful collaboration that will empower our learners with the necessary skills, knowledge, and experiences to thrive in the real world. At the Department of Education, particularly in the alternative learning system, we uphold the vision of inclusive and equitable education for all.” This sentiment was further emphasized, noting that through joint initiatives, gaps in education could be bridged, learning opportunities enhanced, and pathways for success created, especially for ALS learners, out-of-school youth, and adult learners aiming to transform their lives through education.
The Eastern Visayas State University proudly shares its newly forged partnerships with local and international institutions that share similar academic and industry missions. The university pledges its commitment to continued support for the entire academic community.
