News House Speaker Romualdez graces DOLE Tupad, Nego-Kart Project distribution

The House of Representative Speaker and the 1st District Representative of Leyte, Hon. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez graced the Department of Labor and Employment’s payout of TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers and the turn-over of Nego-Kart Project (Negosyo sa Kariton) to ambulant vendors at Miguel Romualdez Auditorium, Eastern Visayas State University, October 13, 10:00 o’clock in the morning.

TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.

Meanwhile, the Nego-Kart is a project for ambulant vendors on major cities of the country. The project will assist the ambulant vendors in making their existing livelihood undertakings grow into profitable and sustainable business; thus, making their income level at par with that of the minimum wage earners, at the least.  

Also present in the event are the Deputy Majority Floor Leader and Tingog Party List Representative, Hon. Jude Acidre, Regional Director of DOLE RO8, Dir. Henry John S. Jalbuena, Sta.Fe,Leyte Mayor, Hon. Amparo H. Monteza, DPWH Regional Director, Edgar B. Tabacon, among others.

Congressman Romualdez emphasized in his talk the importance of the partnership of agencies in delivering the services intended for the marginalized sectors of the society.

He is further thankful to Eastern Visayas State University for facilitating the event. He further mentioned that the Tingog Sinirangan Party List and himself will be doing their best to upgrade the auditorium of the university.

The activity ended with the Turn-over of Livelihood and Tupad Payout.
