This year’s APAMS follows the theme “Technological Innovations in Disaster Risk Management (DDRM) Towards Resiliency”. The keynote addresses and plenary speeches empower this ideal as they discuss notable natural disasters such as typhoon Haiyan which devastated areas around Visayas in 2012 and the Luzon earthquake of 1990. The event serves to highlight the many efforts being taken by the various institutes and agencies involved in advancing research and innovation with the goal of mitigating the negative effects caused by natural hazards as well as to bolster a sense of disaster preparedness and resiliency amongst the Filipino community.

Furthermore, as detailed in the MOA, the three-day event is set with the main goal of fostering collaboration amongst Filipino scientists, promote the growth of regional science and technology research and innovation and to provide a platform to showcase EVSU’s many programs and drives that are deeply connected to the theme of the event.
