News Precision and Pride: EVSU’s 534th Naval ROTC unit excels in Annual Tactical Inspection

EVSU – Main Campus witnessed a remarkable display of discipline, teamwork, and military precision today as the 534th Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Unit (NROTCU) successfully underwent its Local Annual General Tactical Inspection (LAGTI) 2025.

The LAGTI is a crucial annual event designed to evaluate the unit’s operational readiness, assess the cadets’ state of training and discipline, and preserve cherished military traditions like “esprit de corps.” It also serves to accord honors to visiting dignitaries and allow them to observe the unit’s proficiency.

The ceremony commenced with the arrival of the Guest of Honor and Speaker, Dr. Benedicto E. Militante Jr., EVSU Vice President for Administration and Finance, who represented University President Dr. Dennis C. de Paz. His arrival was marked by formal honors, including the “Tanghal TA” command executed by the cadets upon his stepping onto the dais.

Dr. Marlon E. Lora, Director of the National Service Training Program (NSTP), delivered the welcome remarks. He emphasized the inspection’s role in reaffirming the unit’s commitment to “excellence, discipline, and the core values of honor, courage, and commitment that define the Navy.” He extended gratitude to the inspection team and commended the midshipmen and midshipwomen for their dedication and professionalism.

The parade ground came alive with formations led by Troop Commander M/CAPT Jake L. Quinte 1CL and Troop Adjutant MW/LT Kheena Mae N. Valida 3rd Class. Spectators witnessed time-honored naval traditions, including the alignment of troops, the meaningful “Sound Off” ceremony featuring the Augmented Drum and Bugle Corps led by MW/ENS Diamla Hynna 4CL, and the solemn singing of the Philippine National Anthem.

A key highlight was the precise execution of the Manual of Arms, where cadets demonstrated their proficiency and synchronization through a series of commands including Right Shoulder Arm, Left Shoulder Arm, Port Arm, Order Arm, and Inspection Arm, showcasing their rigorous training.

In his inspirational message, Dr. Militante lauded the cadets, calling them “guardians of our nation’s future.” He stressed that the inspection was a “powerful testament to your hard work, your unwavering dedication, and the skills you have sharpened through countless hours of training.” He urged them to embrace the opportunity with pride, drawing strength from their instructors, families, and fellow cadets. “You are part of a team—a family—and that unity is your strength,” Dr. Militante stated. “Stand tall, give your all, and let your actions echo far beyond this day.”

Established in May 1968, the 534th NROTCU has a rich history intertwined with EVSU’s commitment to developing competent, socially responsible, and patriotic leaders. It continues to be a crucible where academic excellence meets the values of naval tradition and national service, truly embodying its motto: “Where duty is born, and victory sails on.”

The successful LAGTI 2025 stands as a testament to the hard work of the cadets, the guidance of their officers and instructors, and the unwavering support of the EVSU administration.

Congratulations to the entire 534th Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Unit! Bravo Zulu!
