News SAS-DLL conducts Immediate Outcomes Assessment, strengthens collaboration with DepEd ALS

The Department of Languages and Literature kicked off the new year with strengthened collaboration and extension-oriented activity through its Immediate Outcomes Assessment of the extension project on January 9, 2026, at the Ordex Studio Room.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Harriette Mae Mercullo, the Head of the Languages and Literature Department, underscored the important role of collaboration with their partner agency—DepEd Alternative Learning System-Girls Education Center, as this is an indicator of a meaningful extension endeavour. “This assessment will give us timely and valuable feedback that will help us improve the implementation of our extension projects and programs, the delivery, and of course, enhance the overall program quality of our extension activities,” she added.

Prof. Catherine Tadios, Pacle, the BAEL Extension Coordinator, reinforced the rationale of the event by emphasizing the significant role of the stakeholders and their active participation to the success of the department’s extension project. “We will be able to identify which immediate outcomes were met, and which were not; and the department, with that, can refine future training sessions if there will be a replication of the extension project for this school year and to better suit the specific needs of our ALS community,” Prof. Pacle noted.

Meanwhile, students shared their experiences and reflections on the training, highlighting their improved confidence, developed communication skills, and refocused goal toward academic pursuit amid circumstances.

Prof. Raven Encina, BSF Extension Coordinator, extended her gratitude to the department for their willingness to devote time and effort to helping realize the learning outcomes of each session and for sharing their expertise with the students.

The extension project, Developing Dynamic Sellers through Effective Communication, enables the participants to apply their communication skills in commercializing their products in the digital sphere.

Attended by ALS Teachers, students, and faculty of the department, this extension project aims to help next batch of ALS students enhance their communication skills and to develop digital competence, hoping for a more active collaboration in the future.
