News SSG Officers, students laud faculty in World Teacher’s Day;EVSU Faculty enjoy get-away on World Teacher’s Day

Bouquet of flowers, greeting cards, and token of appreciation became instruments in honoring the faculty members of Eastern Visayas State University during the Supreme Student Government sponsored World Teacher’s Day celebration at the Miguel Romualdez Auditorium today, October 6, with the presence of EVSU key officials, faculty members, and students.

Giving importance to the transformative influence the teachers selflessly render, this year’s theme is “The Transformation of Education Begins with Teachers,” while the theme for National Teachers’ Month is “Gurong Pilipino: Dangal ng Sambayanang Pilipino.

Dr. Dennis C de Paz, the University President, greeted the faculty members happy teachers’ day with a gladsome spirit. He professed the integral role of the teachers in transforming the society by providing quality education that meets the demands of society. “I laud you all (teachers) for your forbearance, fortitude, and grit in the conduct of your roles. We are heroes in our own little ways,” Dr. de Paz said.

Meanwhile, video presentation and greetings from students across colleges of the main campus set the tone for a fun-filled celebration. The faculty members went astounded with the appreciation and genuine gestures of appreciation exemplified by the students.

The event was even made more special when students rendered different presentations dedicated to teachers. Students from College of Architecture and Allied Discipline, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Business and Entrepreneurship, and College of Technology showcased their talents.

Cherished by the expression of gratitude of EVSUnistas, the special activity ended with a unity song titled “Salamat” performed by Breakpoint organization, together with their flashlights on, melodiously blending with an acoustic guitar performance, thereby ending the song with a striking line:  “Ang awiting ito’y para sa’yo At kung maubos ang tinig, ‘di magsisisi Dahil iyong narinig mula sa labi ko Salamat, Salamat.”

Furthermore, on October 7, 2022, the Eastern Visayas State University Key Officials and faculty members enjoyed the scenic beauty of Camp Bryztoff, Dulag,Leyte in their World Teacher’s Day get away.

The fun-filled activities brought out the hidden talents and skills of faculty members.

Best dressed competition, bring me an object game, dance & musical presentations, and raffle draw made the celebration memorable.

Mr. Jeremiah Nicart and Ms. Giselle Janna Joyce Morcilla were proclaimed as the Best Dressed faculty.

Meanwhile, the winners for the college presentations were the following:

1st Place -College of Education

2nd Place – College of Business and Entrepreneurship

3rd Place- College of Arts and Sciences

Cash prizes were given to the winners.

In addition, the Eastern Visayas State University Multipurpose Cooperative (EVSUMPC) sponsored a raffle draw that created excitement and euphoria among faculty members.

Engr. Leonora N. Mancio got the grand prize amounting to Php 5,000.

On the other hand, the 1st place winner of the college presentation received a cash prize of Php 3,000, 2nd place – 2,000 and 3rd place – 1,000.

The key officials of the university and other benefactors sponsored the prizes.
