On Monday, June 9, 2025, the high-achieving students of the College of Engineering proudly gathered at the EVSU Innercourt to celebrate their remarkable academic journey during recognition day. Among them were three distinguished Magna Cum Laude graduates from the BSEE and BSIT programs, with Mr. Aaron G. Sabela leading the occasion by delivering a profound message about the victories and challenges of being an engineering student at the university.
In his heartfelt Message of Gratitude, Mr. Sabela delved into the widespread perception of engineering students as “red flags” and challenged this notion. He emphasized that these so-called red flags are not indicators of failure but rather symbols of perseverance and effort. “These so-called red flags, they weren’t signs of failure or neglect. They were marks of someone just trying to survive engineering,” he declared, shifting the narrative to one of endurance and dedication.
In recognition of students who demonstrated outstanding talent, perseverance, and commitment, several prestigious awards were conferred. These included the Service Merit Award for exemplary contributions to community service, the Leadership Award for students who exhibited exceptional leadership qualities that enriched campus life beyond academics, the Outstanding OJT Training/Intern Award for exceptional performance during on-the-job training, and the Best Thesis Award for producing groundbreaking research.
More than a celebration of academic excellence, this event represented the resilience and determination of engineering students who navigated the rigorous demands of their studies. As they venture into new challenges, they carry with them the irreplaceable lessons of perseverance, leadership, and commitment—principles that will shape their future endeavors. This occasion serves as an enduring reminder that success is not solely defined by grades but by the passion and drive that propel individuals toward greater heights.
